Show of 'democracy' in Egypt

An Egyptian woman holds political pamphlets and shows inked fingers inside a polling station in Cairo's Qasr el-Nil district on Election day.

This particular polling station was one of many where voters and opposition politicians called fraud: voters were told by elections officials to sign their names rather than check the box for the candidate they were voting for.

Later that evening, those votes were thrown out as invalid.
